The impediments of Luna are important to consider for all the different branches of Astrology. They are most popular with regard to Horary Astrology because the use of the Moon is very important in determining results and answers. It is also significant to consider these impediments when making Elections. Therefore certain impediments of the Moon have been formulated to determine the strength of her power and comfort.

There are in total ten ways that Luna can be impedited each of them being of similar importance.

Luna is impedited by being Combust by the Sun (or during a New Moon) for a total of 12° distant from his body, being applying or separating. She is more so impedited when she is applying than separating.

The next impediment is when Luna is in the degree of her fall, viz. 3° Scorpio.

Thirdly, when she is in Opposition to Sol (also considered a Full Moon).

She is also impedited whe she is within 12° of the Head or Tail of the Dragon which is the term or place of an Eclipse.

When she is joined with the Infortunes through a Quartile (Square) or Opposition.

When she is in the latter degrees of the Sign she occupies wherein there is an infortune.

She is considered impedited when she is in Cadent angels, Via combusta or the burnt way, (being the last 15 degrees of Libra nd the first 15 degrees of Scoprio) which is the worst impedition that Luna can have, especially with regards to marriages, and in all matters belonging to women, selling, buying, traveling or going on a journey.

Luna is considered impedited when she is in detriment, viz. in Capricorn or in Quartile (Square) with her own House or not bheolding her House with Sextile or Trine aspect.

When she is slow in motion, viz. she moves in 24 hours less then in her mean motion (as with all other Planets). The mean motion of the Moon is 13°10'36".

Finally, she is impedited when she is void of course, meaning she does not apply to another Planet before she reaches the end of the sign she is passing through.
