The final House is the 12th House. While it is right beside the Ascendant it is the greatest evil in the chart. It signifies private and secret enemies, those who stand beside the Native and seek his destruction. This is because the Ascendant has no aspect to the 12th House and therefore cannot see him and therefore his enemies are considered "occult" or hidden. As with the 7th House of public enemies to determine the power of the private enemies the strength of the Lord of the 12th has to be considered. A strong Lord, well dignified and aspected shows that the secret or private enemies of the Native have significant power over the Native. This is especially true if the Lord of the Ascendant and the Lord of the 12th be in reception or aspect with each other and the Lord of the 12th is stronger then the Lord of the Ascendant. This signifies that the secret of the enemies shall overcome the Native. In order to determine who these secret enemies are look to the placement of the Lord of the Ascendant, as with other examples, if in the 3rd it shows that these private enemies are brethren, or if the Lord of the 3rd be in the 12th. To determine the sex of these private enemies follow the sex of the signs and Planets in which the cusp, Lord of the 12th and any Planets placed in the 12th House are. Also note that many Planets in this House denote many private enemies.
The secondary major signification of this House has rulership over great or large cattle such as oxen, cows, bulls, or horses. This is true because it is opposite to the 6th House which has rulership over small cattle. The state of the Lord of the of 12th shows the prosperity or loss caused by such beasts if the Native is involved in that industry or buying or selling them. This House can also show accidents caused by great cattle or even signify the death of the Native if the Lord of the 8th be found in the House ill dignified. If Sagittarius is found in this House, or its Lord placed in the same sign and ill dignified and aspected it can show falls from Horses and injuries from horses. The same for Taurus with regards to bulls, cows and oxen.
The third major signification of this, the 12th House, is that of imprisonment or captivity and confinement of the Native. The Lord of the 12th ill dignified and aspected shows that the Native is subject to imprisonment or captivity. This is especially true if the malevolents are placed in the 12th House. To determine the length of imprisonment suffered by the Native look to the quality of the signs. If the signs in the 12th House and its Lords placement are in fixed sign, the Native may spend years in prison is sent, if in moveable signs, indifferent with regards to length of sentence although around weeks or months in length but also shows many imprisonments. Finally common signs show quick sentences of days or weeks length.
This House, as the 8th House also has signification over sorrow, misery and sadness, specifically melancholy, most likely because Saturn finds joy in this House. It also has signification of poverty and banishments or exile.
