The second House has no aspect to the Ascendant but it does however stand beside the Ascendant and therefore represents what a man, besides his body, needs to survive and thrive in the world. What all humans need to survive in any society is money and moveable goods but also associates and friendships which help us attain these things. All of the goods that can be brought with Native and move place to place at his desire and will (again, being attached to the Native being attached to the second House) make up these significations. Since the second House follows the first it is called the "succedant". It should also be noted that the archiac terminology for the word "goods" represented something of exceeding value. For instance, gold and silver were see as moveable goods and thus placed in the second House. This excludes all general and mundane objects which some may consider "moveable" goods because they can be moved from place to place. The second shows what kind of goods we value most.
The second signification of this House is over assistants, associates or close friends to or of the Native. Those who help and aid the Native in everything he does, especially assistants who are financially benefiting in some form (but not through the profession). Since the second House, as aforementioned, is directly beside the Ascendant it signifies very close friends of the Native. Unlike the 12th House which rules secret enemies and unseen foes of the Native because it is beside the Ascendant and has no aspect to it, the 2nd House has signification of friends and associates as it follows the progression of the Signs and therefore is more benevolent in nature.
This is the House of financial affairs or of wealth in general but also of poverty if its Lord is poorly placed and ill aspected. This House shows the weath of the individual from their birth, as opposed to gained wealth or inherited wealth. Its Lord shows where we will obtain the greatest amount of wealth and from who and what type of people, as each of the Planets represents a different type of person. It rules over lending and borrowing and the success or damage from that. This House can determine whether a man is exceedingly wealthy or a beggar. If the Lord of the 2nd House is found in the 1st House the Native will easily make money without any work. If the reverse happens with the Lord of the 1st House in the 2nd House, the Native will make money through his industry but will have to work for it. The same is true for the rest of the Houses and their significations.
General
On man the 2nd House rules the neck. If its Lord is afflicted or there is a malevolent Planet (being natural or accidental) it can cause disease and violence to the neck and throat region. It is specifically colored Green.
Mundane
The second House has signification over the allies of the Country, those that assist the Kingdom. It also rules over the wealth of the Kingdom, whether in a good or ill state and specifically the wealth of the people in the Kingdom.
