The 7th House has many significators which include open enemies, quarrels, fights, lawsuits, duels, thefts, war, all matters of love, and women. It has been suggested that the purpose behind why women are associated with the 7th House is because they are often the downfall of great men all the way back to the first source of whom Eve tempted Adam to eat the forbidden fruit and therefore was his downfall and technically an enemy to him because of her ability to influence his decisions and to make the wrong ones. The same can be said with regards to many women, whether in religion or history. Therefore women are placed as the signification of the 7th House. The second reason to this is because they are both of opposite natures, and therefore placing them together is like placing fire with water. Men, according to the traditional authors, are generally are solid and resolved, where women are unstable and fickle much because of their association with the Moon which is ever wavering and changing. This being the traditional reason I cannot make a comment on it for fear of biasing the belief therefore I leave it to the reader to judge if this is an appropriate justification for the signification.
With that being said, the 7th House and its Lord can describe the type of partner the Native is inclined to work with and the type of spouse they will marry. The nature and inclination of the Natives partner can be described by this House and its Lord. This House can show if the spouse of the Native is lewd and unrefined or pleasant and polite and helpful to their spouse. The Lord ill placed and aspected shows partners and spouses of ill repute of the condition of the Lord (Saturn usually denotes older persons, the Moon for the common people & etc.). This House can also show if the Native is inclined to marry or make contracts as some individuals go through their entire lives without the desire to partner with anyone, especially if they do and it turns out for the worse in which they avoid it in the future. When the Natives partners Ascendant is on the cusp of the 7th House of the Native it denotes a strong bond between the two individuals.
Since the 7th House generally rules over partners and specifically those can include contractual partners, such as marriages or business contracts, or freelance partners, such as being business partners. It is important to note here that in order to determine the sex of the partners (and all other significations of this House such as enemies) the Native will most likely be involved with it is important to look to the sex of the sign on the cusp, the Lord (whether it is a male or female), and the Sign in which the Lord of the 7th placed. If the Native is a male, and has a high majority of male significators concerning the 7th House, his partners (or enemies) will be male and opposite is to be interpreted if all the significators be in female sign or female Planets. In order to determine the strength of such partnership it is important to look and see whether the significators be in fixed, moveable or common Signs. If there is a fixed Sign in the Natives 7th House their partnerships are permanent and long term, where as common being very short and moveable to be indifferent, neither too long nor too short. Many Planets found in this House can indicate an abundance of partners or spouses, specifically multiple marriages.
Concerning open enemies, those which publically voice their hatred for us, the 7th House shows the power and strength of our open enemies. It should be noted here that if the Lord of the 7th and the Planets placed therein are strong (and assisted by benevolent Planets), this gives strength to our public enemies. The stronger these significators are, the stronger our enemies power is, the louder they will be heard. The same is true for the 12th House which rules over secret enemies. In order to know who the Natives public enemies will mostly be in their life it is important to look to the placement of the Lord of the 7th. If it is found in the 3rd House it will be the Natives brethren, neighbours or community who will publically stand against the Native; if in the 11th, the Natives friends and associates will turn against him and become his public enemies; and if it be in the 7th, the Natives spouse or contractual partners will end up to be his greatest public enemy. Again to determine the power of these people, look to the strength of the significators.

The cosignificators of this House are Libra and the Moon and it is of the color black. It rules over the reins (kidneys), loins and hips of man. Sometimes this House is called the Occidental or Western Angle.

This House has primary signification over Wars and Peace between two nations. It also has signification of the quarrels or lawsuits within the Kingdom or Country. It shows who will overcome in War, if this House be strong and well fortified the enemies will overcome the Kingdom. It also has signification over fugitives and enemies of the Country, even if they are within the Country.
