Antiquus Astrology
The infamous House of Death is the 8th House from the Ascendant. This House, having the same affliction of the 6th House which is not being in aspect with the Ascendant and therefore is considered ill. It has signification over inheritances as well, specifically from the wife (being her second House) such as dowry; from the dead, for which reason I can only conclude for the purpose is because grandparents are also significators of the 7th (being fourth from the 4th House of the Father) and therefore the 8th House is also their second; and finally gains from lawsuits and duels.

The Lord and cusp of the 8th House found in fixed signs denotes a long life to the Native, specifically if both are benevolent with no malevolent influences either by dignity or accidental upon them. From this House also can be declared the method of death and the Lord of the 8th found in any House or Sign can also declare the method death of the Native. I will not repeat the significators of death which can be found in the Treatise section under Chapter 5 the section on Death which clearly indicates all the significators and how to discover them in any chart.

This House also has dominion, as aforementioned, concerning the dowry of the spouse. If the Lord of the 8th be well dignified and fortified it may concluded that the Native shall receive a large dowry from their spouse or inherit a large inheritance from them. These rules also apply to inheritances through the dead. If one finds that there is a square or opposition between the Lord of the 8th House and the Lord of the 3rd; or that the Lord of the eighth be placed in the 3rd House and the Lord of the 3rd squared or opposed to the Lord of the Ascendant, it can be proclaimed that there will be difficulties in obtaining these inheritances because of the fighting between the Native and his brethren concerning them. In order to determine who will overcome the other in this duel the strength of the Lord is to be considered. If the Lord of the Ascendant be stronger, expect favor to be shown to the Native. If the Lord of the Ascendant be found in the 8th House it can be stated that the Native will inherit from the dead or from their spouse.

It is important to note here that this House has been labeled the House of "others money" in a deceiving way. This House has no relation to banking, stock traders and the like, others money simply referring to money that the Native receives from others (in the form of inheritance/dowry) that is not earned through their trade or profession. This has no relation to working with others money however unless the Lord of the 10th is found in the 8th House or the reverse is also true then it has rulership over the money of the dead, wills and legacies or that which is inherited. Otherwise all other professions or trades are related by the 10th House.

Since the 8th House is second from the 7th, being the House of enemies, it also represents the assistants or allies to the public enemies of the Native. If this Lord is debilitated, the public enemies of the Native will have very little support to their cause against the Native. If this be strong, judge the opposite to be true. Finally the minor significations of this House are fear, sorrow, poisoning and destruction to the Native.

General

The 8th House is a feminine House and succedant from the West Angle. Its cosignificators are Capricorn and Saturn and rules over the privy members of Man. The color of this House is to be taken from green and black.

Ludovicus de Rigiis, Aphoris.35. tamq, crudelis in omnibus quam octavaist : (i.e) There is no part in the division of the Zodiacal Circle, so ill, so cruel and malicious in all things, as is the eighth House.

Mundane

Signifies the death of the people and the mortality rate of the country. If the Lord of the 8th be well placed it signifies that there shall be a low death rate in the Country, if ill judge the contrary. This House also has signification of the legacies of the dead of the Country.
