Antiquus Astrology
One of the main divisions of Traditional and Modern Astrology are the additions which Modern Astrology makes to the Art of Astrology, those being mainly the outer Planets and other bodies which have recently been discovered in the Heavens. When any student partakes in his path to learning the Art of Astrology, they most often start off by wanting to know the interpretation of all of these points. They discover the meaning of the Sun in Aries, then they progress to understand the Houses and want to know what the Sun in Aries in the 7th House means, then they progress more to the aspects and desire to know what the Sun in Aries in the 7th Trine Jupiter. After they have systematically interpreted (from whatever resources they can acquire on the internet) each Planet and point in their chart they run into a dead end. Since they rely on the interpretation of others, they fail to progress further. Thus from this has been bred the revolution of introducing many points, bodies and everything else into their chart in order to understand what every single degree and aspect of their chart means. This is not only completely useless but quite a folly for any student new to the Art.

Anyone can see that this is not the way to learn Astrology, nor the way to respect it. Many people who put interpretations online that are in no way instructive are very much doing a disservice to that student because he cannot see that Astrology is more than Sign-Planet, Planet-Aspect interpretations. Astrology is the Art and ability of being able to understand the Heavens and read the stars. If one understands the Heavens they have no need to rely on others to read their stars.

Astrology, during the Classical and Traditional periods was complete. The Ancients and Tradtional Authors created a complete system of Astrology. They had no need to other Planets that were not visible to the naked eye, they had no need to add anything else, in fact there wasn't a need for anything else because the system was so perfect. Adding even one more Planets destroys the perfection of the system. There was harmony in the traditional system, not only Astrological Harmony but also Philosophical Harmony. With the advent of Modern Astrology, many amateur authors and astrologers believe that the simple visual spotting of a Planet in the sky was the result it was added into Astrology. They disregarded the Harmony of the Traditional system in order to bring more points in to interpret. By bringing these points into the chart, they corrupted the Harmony that existed. 5 Planets each ruling 2 signs of the Zodiac specifically to their nature and 2 Luminaries, which were considered the most powerful given one sign in which to represent them and therefore each of the 7 Planets had their associations with each sign. So when another point or body is added to this system, what Signs rule it? This is a question that couldn't be answered. Therefore they created a self-cycling system, a system in which they state these are the significations of Uranus and then, by these significations they attributed a House sign unto it (and Exaltation). So when asked why is Scorpio the House of Pluto? they replied because it follows the signification of Pluto and when asked why are these significations of Pluto? they replied because Pluto's House is Scorpio and they are the significations of Scorpio and thus Pluto! Its a self-circulating argument! By simply stating the Planets House was this without any real knowledge of Astrology and its significations, they easily incorporated these points into a chart with very little resistance. This wasn't a system created over thousands of years of observation of influences and effects as the traditional system was. Therefore what makes it valid?

Is impossible to incorporate new discoveries into Astrology? Not necessarily but the real question one should be asking themselves is, is it needed and why should we? Do we really need Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, Chiron, Sedena, Eros, Pallas, Vesta, Hera, ad infinitum? The answer is no, we don't. As aforesaid, these points and bodies were simply placed into Astrology by the ignorant astrologers (or even pseudo-astrologers because someone who does not understand the systematics and harmony of Astrology can never be an astrologer, even if they call themselves such) who believed that Traditional Astrology was lacking in significations. Where are the significations of alcoholism? Where are the significations of HIV? Where are the significations of Revolutions? Just because Traditional authors did not overtly state these things, any true astrologer, who understands the Heavens can tell you how to find all of these significations in the 7 Planets, 12 Signs, 12 Houses and 4 major Aspects and Conjunctions. In fact, there are so many significations, many authors plainly state their idiocy and defilement of the Art itself for having to state them all for the vulgar and unlearned. If one cannot find a signification in these 7 Planets, 12 Signs, 12 Houses and 4 major Aspects and Conjunctions then they should not be interpreting. Period. In fact, those who include other points in order to add significations show themselves weak in the knowledge and understanding of Astrology and therefore not fit to judge any chart. While this may be somewhat harsh, it is the truth and any Traditional astrologer, if alive today, would certainly back this statement up.

Some may argue at this point that they have interpreted using the additional points and found them to be very true. Therefore the question is to those people, are they really true? When reading interpretations do you simply look at your own placement or do you look and read the entire collection of interpretations of all the placements? If you haven't, you will discover that 90% (if not 100%) of those interpretations will perfectly fit and suit you as well (almost no different than newspaper Astrology). In fact the main reason (besides sloth) that people do not read the other interpretation points other than their own is because they subconsciously fear that they will also apply to them and therefore dismantle their views that Astrology is accurate and an authentic Art form. There have been recently some very good examples of this concerning interpretation of the placement of the Vertex and what it means. Of course the majority of the interpretations could have applied to everyone and anyone and they would have been impressed if they had actually believed that the interpretations were authentic. Those who are ignorant (and not always in the negative connotation) believe this is the way it works instantly without understanding that each signification comes from something specific and therefore they will always be lost in the dark with regards to Astrology.

Any good teacher, after dissembling falsities must provide the student with information in which to illustrate and rebuild what they have dismantled so that the student can understand and learn from the point of view of the teacher.  Thus it seems fit to include here some very simple significations of the outer Planets and where in Traditional Astrology the student can find such significations. This is but a small list of the significations that can be found, any diligent student can discover them all in the Traditional system. Here there is included several tables which illustrate the significations and where to find them.

Inventions & cutting-edge technologies
Mercury - well dignified has always signified Inventions and people of an inventeous quality.
Breaking with tradition & create a new mold
Comet* - Miles/Venus - Associated with breaking traditions and setting up things that are new. It should be noted that this comet was specifically associated with Venus.

Aries & Aquarius - Both signs have association with things that are "new" and original.

It should further be noted that there are multiple occasions in which warrant "new" things, however because this signification is so general, without something specific such as "new clothing, new religion (sect), new government" it is therefore impossible to give an accurate traditional signification.
Science
Mercury - He has always ruled over Science.

9th House
Rebellion & Revolutions
Jupiter + Venus + Mars + Moon in Taurus combined will rage rebellion, especially against the government and head of state.
Freedom
Merucry in 1st Face of Sagittarius - signifies freedom
Bizarre and Strange
Mercury above the Moon - Indicates strange and unusual behavior.

Sol or Mars in the second House disperses the Natives estate in a strange or unusual manner.
Table of Uranus
*It may seem hypocritical to include a Comet in this interpretation however Comets were not seen as physical bodies by the traditional Astrologers but simply evaporations from the earth drawn up by the Sun into the air and therefore a specific earthy phenomenon. Since it is associated with Venus I saw it fit to include even though it is not practical for the Astrologer.
Dreams & illusion
9th House - This one is clear, even to amateur students, especially if the dreams are of a divine spiritual quality.

3rd House - general dreams being opposite to the 9th makes the dreams common and superficial.

Mercury - Mercury rules over all illusions.
Spirituality
Jupiter - While some may state Jupiter rules over organized religion, it doesn't, the accidents of Jupiter determine not only if they are drawn to organized religion but to atheism, or mysticism (or modernly called spiritualism).

9th House Lord - This is especially revealing to the spiritual nature of the Native.

Common Signs - These tend to have a more free flowing (opposite to Fixed) nature and therefore the significations above found in Common Signs general show a religious or spiritual attitude that is of the same quality.
Poetry, Music & Dance
Mercury & Venus - All of these fall under the significations of Venus. Especially the function of creativity (Mercury) and beauty (Venus).

5th House - Since many of these are linked with merriment, they are ruled over by the 5th House (unless one is studying Music or Dance).
Alcohol & Drugs
Venus - she rules over all pleasures, whether they are taken to the extreme (addiction) or simply for social pleasure, alcohol and stimulants are ruled by Venus.

5th House & Lord - With its association with merriment as well as pleasure (both of which are strong proponents of drug and alcohol intoxications), and the fact Venus takes joy in this House, it is therefore, along with the state of its Lord, the significator of the use or abuse of pleasure.
Hypochondria
Virgo - Virgo is always stated traditionally as the Sign of hypochondria, most likely due to its 6th House association.
Table of Neptune
Death
8th House & Lord - This one is quite obvious.

The Planet which is Lord of Death - As described on the Death Significations page.
Rebirth
Sol & Luna - The Sun has always been associated with death and rebirth, especially when hitting the Equinoctial point of Capricorn (Death) and its rebirth to its other Equinoctial point of Aries (Rebirth). The Moon as well a monthly cycle of death and rebirth without the need to explain any further.
Power
Since "Power" is so general its very hard to find appropriate significations since there are many for power. Also with that, having "power" especially over certain people is always found by which Planet has the most dignity. For Example, power over ones enemies is shown by the Ascendant being stronger then the Lord of the 7th through dignity or accident.
STD's (HIV especially)
Venus - It is amusing to see many Modern pseudo-astrologers grasping for straws with regards to STD's and HIV in an attempts to draw significators, however it is very clear that Venus & Scorpio (ruler of the genitals) is the indicator of all Venereal diseases (Venereal meaning of Venus). HIV and other venereal diseases are a result (traditionally speaking) of engaging in too much pleasure and therefore reaping the negativities of that action. In truth, HIV is (Astrologically speaking) the French Pox of the 17th century and I see no reason for it to be associated with Pluto. This again, is another case of the Zodiacal sign creating significations for the Planet.
